THE IRON AGE #1Written by CHRISTOS GAGE & ROB WILLIAMSPencils by LEE WEEKS & BEN OLIVERAvengers Cover by LEE WEEKSCaptain Britain Cover by JOE JUSKOTrapped in the past, Iron Man races the clock to save the future from annihilation. But his past self is in a drunken stupor, and Tony’s fellow Avengers, dismiss his story as an alcoholic delusion. The keys to saving Tony’s future? Hank Pym…exiled Avenger and one of the Avengers’ greatest enemies: Ultron! Christos Gage (AVENGERS ACADEMY) teams with comics legends LEE WEEKS and TOM PALMER - inker of more issues of Avengers than anyone else - to bring you an all-out epic in the mighty Marvel manner! THEN! Tony’s next stop is Captain Britain’s London, a totalitarian state bent on a new, ‘cleaner’ future. Rob Williams teams with Ben Oliver (Ms. Marvel) as Iron Man and Captain Britain fight for freedom! 48 PGS./Rated T+ …$4.99

While this has the potential to be pretty disappointing, I think it also has the immense potential to kick ass, which is why I think you guys should check it out if you get the chance. Also, I usually enjoy Lee Week’s art. Iron Age: Alpha #1 came out a little while ago as well, which serves as a prelude to this story.

.

The ending was predictable, but overall, it was a really fun series that showcased a lot of characters.  Hank Pym particularly got to shine, and I loved seeing a pre-superhero Dazzler.  It focused a lot on Tony’s personal growth over the years, which was refreshing, as so many stories of late have him repeating the same mistakes and digging himself into deeper holes.  Sometimes, I feel like he’s just not capable of learning anymore and this series refuted that.  It was also a book that was a lot more interested in fostering and repairing Tony’s relationships with the superhero community than tearing them down.
Highly recommend it!
